Exhaust Systems and Components

One of the first places to start increasing the power of your 928 is the exhaust system. It is critical to the output of the 32v engine family to scavenge the exhaust effectively and reduce restrictions. The exhaust system that is optimal for your 928 engine will depend upon the Level of tune and the total flow requirements. Go too big on a Level I or II engine and you will lose torque and mid range. Too small a pipe on a Level III or IV and you will never reach the power potential of the engine.

The 4 valve exhaust port on a high flow cylinder head needs at least an 1 3/4" primary and you will not lose torque with it, you will gain torque and power throughout the power band.

Our new Level II and III stepped primary mid-length header bridges the gap between the mediocre quality mass produced headers that have been available and the extremely high priced systems that use too small and long a primary to work on a modified engine. Header technology has advanced in recent years and many suppliers have chosen not to build their products with these innovations that have improved power and torque. The stepped primary and merge collector are now standard features of a modern, effective exhaust header. If those flow and scavenging features are not incorporated in a header, that header is dated. If it uses inadequate flanges and tends to leak (as many of the current offerings do), then it is dated and cheap. Quality costs more, and our header sets are individually hand fabricated by a master fabricator. Finished in a variety of ceramic coatings.

Our Level I headers use a primary of 1-3/4" and a merge style collector. They can be used with a single 3.5" pipe or a dual 2-1/2" system with an X-crossover. These headers will produce very good power and will work very well with stock or ported cylinder heads. Quality 3/8" Porsche pattern steel flanges at both ends, ceramic coated in standard colors. ($1355.00)

Our Level II headers use a stepped primary of 1-3/4" to 1-7/8" and a merge collector. They can be used with a single 3.5" pipe or a dual 2-1/2" system with an X-crossover. Either is effective and we will be dyno testing the two different approaches to determine which is better for power. Quality 3/8" Porsche pattern steel flanges at both ends, ceramic coated in standard colors. ($1455.00)

Our Level III headers use a stepped primary of 1-3/4" to 1-7/8" to 2" and high quality merge collectors with 3.0" outlets. They can be used with a single 3.5" pipe or a dual system with an X-crossover. This system is for high flow/horsepower engines with stock or ported cylinder heads and will provide a broad torque curve with significant horsepower increases. Quality 3/8" Porsche pattern steel flanges at both ends, ceramic coated in standard colors. ($1655.00)

Our Level IV race headers use a stepped primary of 1-7/8" to 2" to 2-1/8" and high quality merge collectors with 3.5" outlets (3" available). They can be used with a single 4" pipe or a dual system with an X-crossover. This system is for a very high flow/horsepower engines with large ports and will give big top end power without sacrificing torque. Quality 3/8" Porsche pattern steel flanges at both ends, ceramic coated in standard colors. May require chassis modifications to clear these large tubes. ($1955.00)

X-crossover pipe custom fitted and sized for header sets. 2.5" or 3" steel tubing with stock 928 rear flange coupling for rear exhaust sections. ($375.00)

X-crossover pipe with dual catalytic converters custom fitted and sized for header sets. High flow, 50 state cats. 2.5" or 3" steel tubing with stock 928 rear flange couplings for rear exhaust sections. ($685.00)
