Level I & II Tunable Single Plenum Aluminum/Carbon Fiber Intake Manifold Package
For 928 Engines

   
     The new single plenum 928 Developments aluminum and carbon fiber intake manifolds are being designed to meet a broad range of needs for 16 valve SOHC 928 owners. While the dual plenum Levels I, II & III carbon fiber manifolds were designed to allow for unrestricted flexibility in flow capacity and runner designs, the single plenum manifolds offer very high performance in a much less complex package. As we have completed the construction of the 3 different dual plenum manifolds, it has become very evident that we needed to offer a simpler intake manifold that would also give large power gains without the cost and complexity. The dual systems require many modifications, and while they will offer the ultimate intake package, most 928 owners will not require the overall capabilities of the dual plenum package. The ability to use much of the original linkages and plumbing (with minor modifications and/or upgrades) make this installation far more economical overall, with an estimated savings of $1500-$2000.

     The single plenum aluminum manifolds have a price of $2995.00 for all 928 engines that use EFI, and we are taking orders for the first run of manifolds. The aluminum manifolds are constructed with a CNC machined base and tubular intake runners, heli-arc welded into the central plenum. The CIS system cars are a challenge that we have not taken on yet, but we will when the investment is justified.

     The single plenum carbon fiber manifolds offer similarly advanced features combined with very light weight and the extraordinary appearance of carbon fiber. Materials and fabrication costs are higher, but carbon construction gives great flexibility in the design and shape of components that give a power advantage over fabricated aluminum manifolds.

     A very exciting aspect to the new design will be the ability to vary the tuned length of the intake runners. We plan on testing many different sizes and lengths of runners (changes take place inside of the plenum) to optimize them to the many different 928 engine tunings. This will take time of course, and will naturally gravitate towards the areas of most demand for the manifolds. If you had a street/track car, you could change the tuned length for more top end power for the track as opposed to a more torque oriented tuning for your street running. We are also developing a tunable feature to the dual plenum design that we will integrate if it proves successful in testing.
